What These Walls Won’t Hold

Independent / PBS | Producer | 2021–2023

This award-winning documentary, co-produced with filmmaker Adamu Chan, captures the unfolding crisis of COVID-19 inside California’s San Quentin State Prison. What began as a volunteer teaching relationship evolved into a long-form collaboration built on trust, mutual respect, and shared authorship. The film premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival, where it won Best Mid-Length Film, and later secured national distribution through PBS. Christian’s dual role as producer and DP allowed him to shape both the film’s emotional arc and its visual language—helping bring forward stories of resilience, resistance, and reform from within the prison walls.
